Rachel and Dom's Barns Hotel Wedding, in Cannock

Rachel and Dom had searched Google to find a Staffordshire wedding photographer and I'm delighted that they chose me.

They picked the lovely Barns Hotel and Restaurant, for their Halloween wedding. The Barns is a restored 18th century farmhouse on the edge of Cannock Chase in Staffordshire.

Both Rachel and Dom got ready at The Barns, so I had the opportunity to flit between their rooms and get a few shots of their preparations before the wedding ceremony.

The ceremony took place in the eaves of the building at The Barns, a lovely room with a great atmosphere.

With the formalities complete, it was time for an informal drinks reception, followed by a few pictures outside. Unfortunately, the weather was typical for an October wedding, and we had to dodge the rain and cope with a stiff breeze, to capture the formal wedding photos.

Back inside the building, and the wedding breakfast was served in a beautifully decorated room, by The Barns' friendly and professional staff.

Then it was time for the traditional speeches, all three of which alternated between making the guests roar with laughter and bringing a tear to the eye.

The weather earlier in the day had stopped us going to Cannock Chase for photos, as Dom and Rachel had hoped, and the rain had returned by the time the wedding breakfast had ended.

Despite this, Rachel and Dom agreed to brave the rain and the cold for some nighttime wedding photography, so we dashed to the front of the hotel, and took a few shots before racing back inside.

Back in the dry, it was time for the evening reception, with the cake cutting and the first dance as the formal aspects, followed by a big party until midnight, with lots of dancing* and possibly a few drinks, to bring a great Halloween wedding day to the end.

*See if you can guess which photos were taken when the DJ was playing Thriller.
